What is a Derrickism?," one of my associates asked, shortly after a good friend of mine coined the phrase, before I get ahead of myself allow me to digress. I was at a friends house warming party a month ago. I managed to take a break from my world. It was your typical social event, food, drink, and good company. My competitors and friends who all do what I do. It is my only real social network, my shopping world. It is a place w I feel like I belong and one that I am comfortable existing in as me with none of the silly social facades we oftentimes put up at work and in life. My friends are an interesting mix of great brilliance juxtaposed to their flaws: just example of our humanity and myself. I like that we are not perfect, but were good with it. Sooo many people struggle with their imperfections instead of just being good with it. So when the drinking got serious amongst the males of the tribe we went back to the most basic male thing. Bragging rights, yes, I am sure this stems from those days when we lived in a cave. Doing the classic hunter gatr thing that we all do now in the present day.. We just dont do the agrarian thing well in this world for whatever reasons we each have were all individuals. So the hunters returned from the hunt and sat around the fire pit boasting of their exploits. This is w we differ from most modern males: instead of who had the most horsepower under the hood of their car or who had the biggest home, it was related to our world of ebay. Guys going with crazy things like the most expensive free pile score or the most expensive single non consignment item. I just laid out and enjoyed the show. One of the most feared and respected shoppers was t and while we are not what I call buddies we manage to get along. Rivalry, maybe, mutual respect, probably. I see so many mundane, and booring people in my world trying to do what we all do, they lack the one of two things: either knowledge or drive. After the fire died down and most of the people left it was just three guys who do ebay for a living, all of us about the same age and same position in life. Then the talk eroded into our biggest flaw or failing: women, and that was a subject we rambled about for hours till it was almost sunrise or maybe it was till our speech had become so slurred that we were unable to speak anymore. Either way, it was nice to hear my two friends suffer from the same affliction as I do at times. Loneliness and heartbreak. For me at least that is the one thing missing in my life, and it has been that way for so long I seriously doubts that I will ever find that kind of happiness again personally. They both blasted me about my ex wife ebay stories and it was a point well-taken. Its just I tend to draw from my own life experiences and tragedies when I do write one of these so-called Derrickisms. That is what I am calling these now. Normally a derrickism is just what is a above, my take on what I observe in my world or what I have experienced. Anyways, enough of my ranting and back to this interesting item which is appropriate since it is not my normal thing. A nice find, something I rarely come across is older western american items. This is a buckle set for a belt or saddle strapping from Keystone Bros San Francisco California from the turn of the century with an interesting ring attached to it, the squared the round finger hole up so it would not come off the harness strap. Not sure what its intent or meaning was, looks to be sterling but not marked with either a piece of coral or agate in the setting. Still in business today and just the remains of a belt or harness, the buckles and hardware could be reused on new leather if you so desired. USPS shipping will be 6.00. International users are welcome and shipping will be higher in most cases. I normally ship same to five working days after getting paypal payments. Other payments will ship in the same time frame once payment arrives. I do not answer my emails daily so please be patient. If you are asking a question through ebay I normally respond w...
