Handknotted. This very unusual rug is from East Turkestan and is better known as Khotan (UIGHUR) Rug. These type of rugs were woven along sides of the Old Silk Road which the tradition of weaving rugs in that areas goes back to the antiquity. It Has an all over Turkmen design resting on a soft red ground. Uighur rugs are very rare and very much sought after by collectors and because of their decorative merits are very much loved and used by interior designers and decorators. This rug is a perfect companion for rooms with either modern or traditional furnishing and decor.
