A rare opportunity to own a true American antique; solid mahogony kidney-shaped desk circa 1890. This desk is totally hand carved all the way around from the beautiful gadrooned boarder on the top to the claw feet. Since it is a true kidney-shaped desk, all of the sides are curved and one can only imagine the skill required to construct and hand carve such a desk. The finish is original and it has been professionally hand polished. The desk is attributed to Paine Furniture of Boston, Ma. Although t is no maker's mark or tag, the carvings are indicative of their work. Paine Furniture was known for their quality, workmanship and skill. T is a center drawer with an inverted curve. To the left of the center is another drawer and a cabinet underneath. On the right side of the desk, t are three drawers with the bottom having an extra large depth for filing. After being in the antique furniture business for 35 years, this is the finest kidney-shaped desk we have ever owned. Make it yours today!
