Up for bid are 2 veryrare Hand Painted Ironstone plates made in Korea. The makers mark “Couple Peacock” is on each plate. They measure approx. 8 inches in diameter, and are trimmed with a gold rim. There is also a mark on each plate in the front in Korean which I am sure is the artist mark, but it is not in English so I am not sure what it says! These were purchased from an estate sale, and from what I can tell are circa 1940’s. The plates depict a Korean dancer beautifully dressed holding some type of instrument or drum. Beautiful colors and detail depicting “Old Korea. “ Although I am no expert in Korean collectibles, I do know that I could not readily find an abundance of information on them. The information I did find suggests that they are highly collectible, and quite rare. I am also listing several other Couple Peacock plates that would complement these Please check them out as well.
