Traditional Flow Blue lettuce shape bowl with scalloped edging. Produced by the Wheeling Pottery Co. of Wheeling, WV. The green backstamp is an early mark only in use between 1893-1905. The bowl measures appx 10 1/4" x 9" x 3" deep and has a pedestal bottom. The color is rich, dark blue, bright and shiny with some gold speckling around the edge of the rim. It has had two small chip repairs to the edge (well done and difficult to find) and a 1/8" hairline on the outside edge. *I have tried to show these in the pictures. They don't show to the eye nor does the camera pick them up very well. T is age-crazing on the bowl, visible in the white background but not in the blue. It also has a few glaze slips and pops which were obviously done in manufacture. This is an excellent example American Flow Blue pottery and considering its age, condition is very good. Any questions, please email. Insurance is strongly recommended.
