You are bidding on an antique c1840 Chinese black lacquer & heavy gilt art (notice the human figures in the scenes) needlework sewing Box, and some tools. Claw feet, removable top tray with many compartments Drawer with the original key. The pictures & detailed notes left by Susan Frances Turner, tell the story better than I can. I'll repeat words I'm reading, and give amateur comments on the condition I see. I'll assume you know the glories of such a beautiful box, so, I'll use a critical eye. The tools are ivory & bone; some original to the box, cotton barrels, netting needles, carved needle holders, one large needle seems premitive, stiletto or awls, thread winders, bobkin, ratchet, shuttle, punch, pricker, hook, etc. These are written words, with a waxpaper diagram that was SFT's attempt to journal the history and the tools.
