PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE PAYMENT WHEN THE AUCTION ENDS.. within 24 hours after committing to buy, or kindly do not bid. I am listing something from my sons inheritance for him every day or so.. as long as the college expenses dictate. We're not dealers, these are pieces of his Grandparents Estate. I will tell you all I see, and share any provenance they may have left. Supersize and Maximize, you'll know more.. Thanks for looking, the Mom. You are bidding on an antique c1840 Chinese black lacquer & heavy gilt art (notice the human figures in the scenes) needlework sewing Box, and some tools. Claw feet, removable top tray with many compartments Drawer with the original key. The pictures & detailed notes left by Susan Frances Turner, tell the story better than I can. I'll repeat words I'm reading, and give amateur comments on the condition I see. I'll assume you know the glories of such a beautiful box, so, I'll use a critical eye. The tools are ivory & bone; some original to the box, cotton barrels, netting needles, carved needle holders, one large needle seems premitive, stiletto or awls, thread winders, bobkin, ratchet, shuttle, punch, pricker, hook, etc. These are written words, with a waxpaper diagram that was SFT's attempt to journal the history and the tools. She died before finished. I would trust the photos.. This box has been exposed to great heat in a storage situation twice: Once in the 20's, and it was restored by an expert. At that time, t he drop handles were removed & filled-in by the expert, because she didn't like them. Now it has been found after 3 years lost in a garage. The lacquer is visibly cracked & curling, with one good size piece of the lacquer missing from the topside. (pics show it well) I have to say, it was t when I found the box & since bringing it inside to sell, it is gone. This bothers me and I hope to find that piece of lacquer, to send to whoever buys this box. The lid is detached at the hi nges, but they are all t, and part of the lock which goes in the lid, is out, but intact to be put back .. I didn't try an amateur fix.. Two of the high knuckes on the toes of the front-left clawfoot were skinned off.. very restorable. The photo of the bottom-side exaggerates a crack in the lacquer, the bottom is good & sturdy..I just wanted you to see it. ****SELL TO USA ONLY**** Unless we talk beforehand and you are approved
