ANTIQUE LAKE SHORE MICHIGAN SOUTHERN RAILROAD MAP 1872

Offered is an Antique 1872 Railway Guide Railroad Map for the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad, which runs from Buffalo, New York to Chicago via the Great Lakes and connecting points. Engraved/lithographed map of the Eastern/Midwestern Portion of the United States shows the main line with stops and connections with a timetable on the obverse and fabulous illustrations including an interior view of an 1870s Palace Car. Titled "Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway; The Great Thoroughfare to the West and Southwest". Obverse has a time table and reads "35 Hours! Boston to Chicago!" This is a RARE Original Authentic Engraving from 1872 and is NOT a reprint! Engraved/Lithographed by Clay, Cosack & Co Lith. Of Buffalo, NY in 1872. Item is in very good condition and was found folded along proper folds. Light wear to edges and at folds with a pinprick hole at folds, the largest measuring 1/8". Overall light foxing/yellowing. Upper right corner of map exhibits a 6.5" tear along edge with a hole and tears, which obstructs text on obverse. Measures approximately 16" wide and 12.5" long when opened and 6.5" long and 3.25" wide when folded. Map will be shipped as found folded up. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended.
