Here I am offering a lovely large antique Sever porcelain box with detailed ormolu fittings and great gold and painting details. Dates from the late 1800s. My mom bought it long ago locally.
I'll be happy to send you more photos. On the top is a scene of an 18th century couple, she sitting on a chair writing a letter, on the table an ink well. The gent watches her writing. Beautiful setting with a lake and castle in the background and a pillar with a flower pot in the foreground. Highly detailed raised gold painting on pale turquoise background on the sides and framing the picture. Inside the box beautiful flower paintings. All hand painted. The top is signed, can't make it quite out, looks like Brenet or Bravet. Size: Large size 6 3/4" wide, 5 1/4" deep and a little over 3" high when closed. Condition: A few professional old repairs that are nearly invisible to the naked eye. There is a repaired crack going through the painting on top diagonally and a smaller one on the top left going through the rim on the side. The inside top is has also the diagonal crack/hairline and seams to have more repair on the top right and left bottom side (that yellowed slightly with age). The bottom has light glaze? craqueling (not going through to the outside), and a repair on the porcelain rim on the left side with a small crack on the side. Sounds worse than it is. Good brass fitting, closure works. Shipping: Well packed to the US $39 (or less depending on distance). I do take returns in case I overlooked something significant.
