Here is a really RARE water peddlar doll from Morocco. His body is ALL LEATHER and he probably dates back anywhere from 1920's to 1940's. This is NOT the same as the ones that I have seen online recently. This one is much older and you can tell by his clothes and the way the leather was molded. The newer ones have stitching on their arms......This one does NOT. There are no seams and the leather used has skin pores like human skin! The water bag he's carrying looks like a different type of leather and his pouch a different kind also.. I think he has human or animal hair for a beard and on his head. His cup, bell, and his clothing are all original..If you look up online there is a picture of a real 1920 Moroccan Water Peddlar, who looks exactly like this doll..with the same items that he's carrying.. The dolls changed over the years to sell to tourist so I can tell this one's really old. He is almost human!! He is hunched over, either made that way or from the leather taking on a different shape..I have no idea what he is suffed with,,feels like a grass material and it's solid. I angle his feet a bit when I display him so that he's not too hunched over..This belongs in a museum, really. The leather is dry from age but some is still soft. His clothes have yellowed over the MANY years. He is about 9 inches tall. Feel free to ask questions. read more
