Antique LIMOGES FRENCH ART DECO DISHES~ 88 PC This Estate Find is a rare treasure! Offered for sale is this magnificent, original matched Set of French Haviland Limoges Dinnerware, 88 pieces in all. It was purchased in 1929 as a wedding gift, but the happy couple had barely set up housekeeping when the Depression struck and their circumstances changed. This dinnerware went into storage; it has been moved several times but has scarcely used in eighty years! The styling is magnificent Art Deco Modern: triangular angled cups and serving pieces with stylish handles, all richly ornamented with concentric bands of gold. The gold bands themselves are alternately burnished and polished. Truly a masterpiece of 1920's Art Deco design. The pattern is called "Le Tanneur." They are marked "Limoges France R-H Robert Haviland Le Tanneur" and are impressed "Limoges Depose." This service is nearly complete. Included are 12 Dinner Plates 12 Dessert Plates 12 Bread Plates 12 Saucers 11 Cups 10 Soup Plates in perfect condition, plus 1 with a small edge chip 11 Sauce Bowls 1 (11") Covered Serving Bowl 1 (9") Round Serving Bowl 1 Gravy Server 1 Covered Sugar 1 Covered Creamer 1 (14") Platter 1 (16") Platter Nearly all of the 88 pieces are in excellent to perfect condition. The remainder are in very good condition, with minor wear to the outer gold rims or tarnish to the inner gold ornamentation, which is noticeable only upon close examination. One Soup Plate has a small chip, but otherwise, t are no use scratches, chips, cracks, flakes or repairs that I noted.
