The central figure is a beautifully done transfer of Queen Louise, skillfully embellished with hand painting. In many of her portraits, Queen Louise is depicted in this green dress and ermine cape, her crown and flowing white scarf and a single strand of pearls. Queen Louise of Prussia, wife of King Frederick William II of Prussia, Duchess Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, was quite a glamorous figure of her day. A beautiful and fashionable young woman, her popularity is very similar to that of Diana, Princess of Wales and the Austrian Empress Elizabeth. She was probably the most famous and well-loved queen consort in German history. Her legacy was further enhanced by her infamous meeting with Napoleon Bonaparte of France. This powder jar/jewelry casket measures 5-1/2 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall. There are two tiny side-by-side chips to the rim of the base which arevirtually unnoticeable on display and do not detract from the beauty of this elegant piece. The mark on the base is “Limoges France.” This piece is in excellent condition as it has been in my family for at least 70 years; the previous owner was a family friend who willed it to my mother. This is a stunning antique and a prize piece for any collector. Please let me know if you have any questions before bidding. Thanks for looking! Items are described as accurately read more
