Presented for your viewing and bidding pleasure is a wonderful Barrister type Stacking bookcase by C.J. Lundstrom Mfg Co. of Little Falls, New York. It is dated 1904-06 and appears to be in Tiger Oak...beautiful wood. It's 76 inches tall, 33 5/8 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Each of the five sections is about 13 1/2 inches tall. It is noted to be a size 11 1/4. T's a topper and bottom section pieces. T is a framed glass door (appears to be original) in the front of each section. Each door pulls out, then up and slides back to open the section. The interior is secondary wood probably Poplar, Maple or White Pine. All the hardware is original and each door opens easily and slides back properly. This piece is in very good to fine condition. Yes, t are a few nicks and scrapes, but absolutely nothing detracting. The slides, and screws could stand some slight adjustment or tightening, but that's about it. Yes, any 100 year old piece can handle some TLC, glass cleaning and maybe a touch of wax, but this piece is fully functional as it sits. T are notations in each section for their order of stacking. The base section is quite sturdy and the top section finishes an already stunning bookcase. It's rare to find these in original condition and ready to use or display. The C. J. Lundstrom Mfg. Co. has beenmanufacturing sectional bookcases for many years in the old Saxony Mill on Mill Street. Carl J. Lundstrom was born in Stockholm, Sweden and when he first came to Little Falls, he was a patent attorney. He patented a sectional bookcase which was manufactured in Casler's Saw Mill on Southern Ave. He purchased the Saxony Mill in 1901, but didn't move in until 1904. The Lundstrom sectional bookcase is known all over the United States and through the years other wood products have been manufactured: victrola cases, end tables, end bookcases and filing cabinets. At one time he manufactured cabinets for Victrolas, manufactured by the Victor Talking Machine Co. Mr. C. J. Lundstrom died April 17, 1943, and his son, Valfrid Lundstrom, was president until his death on Decemberber 31, 1958.Retail prices for such a piece can range from 1200 to 2400 dollars or more. The bidding on this piece starts quite low and...T'S NO RESERVE! ENJOY! T is a Buy-It-Now price for those who want it quickly and not deal with the auction process.
