Greetings from historic Charleston South Carolina, Thanks for yor kind emails, I'm fine now and glad to be finding and listing treasures from the estates of "the Holy City" and great stuff from the lowcountry. are extremely rare early gothic parlor chairs made 1850- 1880. (est. $3500.00-$5000.00) This set came from the famous Botany Bay plantation, Gibbes family estate. That family is known for the Gibbes museum of Art. The museum is world reknown and the following is a quote from their website. Mission Statement"The mission of the Carolina Art Association (the Gibbes Museum of Art) is to offer through collection, exhibition and interpretation a thorough knowledge of the visual culture of Charleston, the Lowcountry and the American South from the colonial era through today." These chairs are true treasures in absolutely pristine condition. One is on original wooden rollers and the other is a rocker that works perfectlyThey are solid and firm, museum quality and as comfortable as the day they finished. The pawed feet and the carved masks are just wonderful. The original wooden rollers are tight and completely funcional. The fabric was probably redone 20 years ago and is in excellent condition. These were prized and prominently displayed in the main parlor of their home. These are one of a kinds, hand picked by a family that had their choice of treasures. Whoever wins this set is going to be so-o-o-o happy! Any questions please email or call , ask for Ronnie These are large pieces - 27" wide 45" tall Buyer to pay only actual shipping costs. All shippers are independent and we will work with the shipper of your choice. We will help you find affordable shipping or if you prefer we will hold for 90 days at no charge for personal pick-up. Charleston is a great springtime visit. Please email any questions. good luck NO RESERVE the chairs are really a light peach and blend with the sofas perfectly. I wouldn't have chanced it but the Gibbes family are far more knowledgable than I and could not have made a better choice. I just had an antique expert (he had his own telivision show) who told me more about these pieces. He stated that what I reffered to as masks were in fact Neptune and the pieces were in fact late Grecian revival (note the pawed feet). This makes more sense as Charleston is a seacoast town. This makes these even older and more desirable. Again, they are in top notch shape and will be treasured for generations.
