This is a mahogany secretary bookcase by the Maddox Furniture Company. In 1865 the Maddox Furniture Company was formed in Arstown, New York, they remained in business until 1900. This company produced fine solid wood furniture and the company was later known as Maddox Colonial Productions, Jamestown, New York. The trade name was "Mad-ox" and the name was displayed on a brass plate on the back of the furniture with an "ox" displayed on the tag. This piece is solid mahogany and comes with all original hardware, including the key for the locks. This is a four drawer with serpentine fronts and claw feet. The top bookcase has glass windows with wood trim that is in perfect condition, and contains one shelf inside. Please Note** Furniture and other items must be picked up from DMJ Furniture within the 14 days following the end of your item's auction. Any items left after that date are subject to a $10.00 daily storage fee. Items left after 30 days will be subject to forfeture. Someone is available for item pickup Saturdays and Sundays from 7am until 7pm. Advanced arrangements are required. You are resposible for your own packing, DMJ associates will help in loading but please bring extra blankets and rope as DMJ Furniture will not be responsible for damage due to incorrect packing.
