This is an Antique Mahogany and Brass Zanzibar Chest. This is an amazing piece of craftsmanship in amazing shape! This chest is from the island of Zanzibar , (I shipped 3 from Tanzania ). This one has been sitting in my garage for years and it is time for someone to enjoy this beautiful yet functional piece of art. It will bring any room alive. It has some amazing details. This is a hand carved chest, only a few master craftsmen in the world could make such a chest (the attention to detail is unbelievable, t are even hidden compartments). If you were to travel to Zanzibar a chest this size will cost a few thousand dollars. The chest is heavy and weighs 100 lbs. It's a bit over 3 ½ feet long, 2 feet tall and almost 2 feet wide. I still don't know how old it is, the person who sold it to me didn't know all he could tell me was "old". I looked around and would guess it is not more than 75 years old given the great condition it is in but I could be wrong it could be older. The pictures speak for themselves.
