Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this beautiful antique majolica oyster plate. This antique majolica oyster plate was found in Metz in the east of France. It is marked on the back with a "R" and a heart impressed into the clay and some hand writing under glaze. It features 6 fish head wells for oysters and a center well for lemon or vinegrette on a teal hatch patterned background. I did find this on page 10 in "Collecting Oyster Plates" where it is valued up to $1500!! This antique oyster plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks!! It has a small hairline I tried to photo for you that does not detract from the beauty of the plate. It measures 9.25 inches in diameter.
