This is a superb & rare example of an early antique Majolica "Sunflower & Urn" Pitcher or Creamer, ... made by Josiah Wedgwood, ... and dated from the back-stamp to 1882. The pitcher is six-sided ... and beautifully decorated with a deep relief patterns of sunflowers & lillies planted in decorative urns, ... decorative handle, ... then finished in a rich glaze typical of majolica wares. The pitcher carries the early Wedgwood factory back-stamp .. and the three-letter date code for 1882 .. as shown in the photos. An excellent reference to a similar larger pitcher can be found in, .. "Warman`s Majolica" .. Mark F. Moran .. page : 155. The pitcher is in good condition. There are no chips. There is a little age-related wear to the glaze on the spout & rim .. and the handle has been repaired at one time, .. as shown in the photos. Height : 4.3 ins. / 11.0 cms.
