This auction is NO RESERVE and a very low start for a fine example of Eman Bowen's "New Map of Ireland" ca. 1747. Bowen was Britain's Royal Geographer ca. 1725 - 1750 and he is arguably one of the most important map makers if the Age of Exploration. AUTHENTICITY and GUARANTEE: From a very good Dallas moving sale and with definite age. Hand-engraved and hand-colored and the paper obviously 18th century on even casual inspection. Old price info clipped from the back of the previous frame-mat, as shown. It is guaranteed an authentic and original example and NOT any type of print, re-strike or copy. Your money (less shipping) cheerfully refunded with *no questions asked* if you buy it and don't agree after you see it in person, but you aren't going to be disappointed. CONDITION REPORT: Excellent condition, as the pics show, with fine color and very little fading. Pic #3, darker than the others, shows true color; the other pics were taken in strong light to show the map's terrific detail on your monitor. Small chip from the bottom left corner of the margin as the pics show, and t is a tiny stress tear about 0.5" long at the plate engraving line about halfway up the left-hand side. Small amount of acid-free tape in the extreme margins on the back, leftover from the previous framing job. All of these are very minor issues, mentioned for completeness only. The map is in excellent condition, all original, and you will not be disappointed. SIZE: Overall size is 16" x 10.5" including the margins and the map measures about 13.25" x 9.25" to the plate engraving lines. NO RESERVE and a very low start, an exceptional eBay opportunity. Please check my other auctions for more interesting and luxe items from old Dallas estates, almost everything at NO RESERVE and starting under $10; I'm happy to combine shipping.
