All sides are brilliantly hand engraved and the piece is in amazing condition. The front side features ornate carvings throughout with a banner at the top that reads "Richard B Fruit" and banner below that reads "March 15'' 1856." In the middle is a circle with the letters KSHTWSST surrounding and a honey bee atop a bowl of fruit with Richard above. The side panels all have decorative engravings while the back side features symbolism of the Royal Arch. It reads No. Lilly RAM Chap 18 and below Mauch Chunk with space left to the right. Very brief research shows a man by this same name born in 1828 who died in 1895. This Dr. Fruit was born in Montour, PA and died in Hazelton, PA. The front panel lifts up and shuts tightly shut. It reveals a shiny center section that may have one depicted a photograph. The bail moves from side to side and is very well made. Amazingly, this piece shows little to no wear. It has been left in as found condition with natural patina. This badge weighs 7.6 grams . The piece measures 1 3/8" (34.6mm) long and 3/4" (19.3mm) wide.We guarantee this piece to be 18k
