This tusk has been appraised as a "for export piece originating from China circa 1880-1900" by Patrica Graham PhD / . It's stunning. Equally detailed on both sides. It was purchased by my father in 1970's in Dallas, TX from Hartman Rare Art, Inc. /aboutus.html . My father was the General Manager of the Fairmont Hotel and Hartman had a gallery in the lobby for a number of years. The purchase price at that time was $8,500. The dimensions of the piece are 52"L x 16"H x 4.5"W. The base is made of carved oak and the whole piece (base and tusk) stands at 55"L x 21"H x 7.5"W.
