I purchased this saddle several years ago with the intent of using it for re-enactment purposes. I never got around to it and no longer have a horse to use it on, so I am offering it The leather is in very good condition considering its age. T are no cracks or splits. The stitching is intact. Most of the brass loops are present: it is missing one on the very front panel on the left side. The fleece padding on the bottom is worn off in a couple of spots as you can see in the photos. The saddle is in great condition and could be used for many years to come. I found two identification marks on the saddle: the first is the brass plate on the pommel labeled '11 1/2 inch' and the other is a stamp in the leather on the right rear panel that says 'W.*.S.SDL.Co. 1918 F.B.H.', the * being an unidentifiable letter. The photos I posted are available in larger format if you'd like to see more detail. I can also take pictures of specific aspects of the saddle if you are looking for something specific. Details on the McClellan saddle are available on some websites, specifically Wiki: and on the Military Horse website:
