This auction is offering an Antique Meat Hook which looks to be a Hand Wrought Butchers Meat Hook. This was found during an old home Cleanout in Eastern Pa. and I am selling it just as it was found the new owner can clean to meet their specifications. The Meat Hook measures approx. 12 inches long, and the hook is sharp. This would be used by the butcher to hang the meat so the meat could stiffen up in the cold air, once the meat was stiff enough to cut the butcher would then cut the meat. I do not see any maker marks, But it sure looks like it may have been hammered into the required size hook. If you are a Collector of Butchering Memorabilia or just Unique Hand Wrought Iron Items in General this will be a great addition to your Collection, or just set it out on display as a great conversation piece.
