Miss Faye, a dear family friend has asked my help in pre-spring cleaning. Her basement is chock full of goodies. After a few husbands, kids, and a hobby of remodeling old houses (she's done 4 I believe), she's doing the mid-life pare down (I laugh, she's almost 60 and doing 70) I am now near an expert on any of her stuff, so I'll describe what she's selling to the best of my ability, spiced with her notes and provenance ... Up for bid is one of Fayes mother-in laws (husband #1) pieces of Silverplate. She couldn't tell me what it was for- her and her now deceased found it while closing up the in-laws house in the 70's. Even the husband didn't know much about it. Faye has figured it for some kind of dessert or berry or biscuit server. We are no experts, we could be way off base! I tried a quickie google search- but no luck! Anyhoo... It stands almost 10 inches tall by almost 9 inches per side (it is tri-cornered) . It has 3 wells that are lidded on the inside and when you open it, the wells spring smoothly on its mechanisms and the wells slide down and out and the lids follow somewhat. It is fairly free of dark spots-mebbe 8 2mm spot on the body of the piece, although, t are concentrations of dark spots w the handles at the top of each well have rested on the well. I tried to get a picture, but the silver lit up and the spots didn't show. The 3-6 spots in those areas measure anyw from 2-4 mm. It has a victorian fan like pattern on it- no momgrams. The inside has a different color than the outside- it has a warmer golden hue. (see pictures- it accurately shows color difference.) Postal Insurance Required. All handles, spings and hinges intact and work. The bottom has the stamps- "G" "&" "L" "SP" and a sideways crown and then the words "pat.pend"- My digicam couldn't get a clear shot of it, sorry. This comes with a blue bag made out of jewelers cloth- it says on it- Joseph Horne Co Pittsburgh, Pa with its logo. We think thats w it might have been bought either originally or at resale. Get all ??'s answered before you bid- email early to insure response (working mom)This is my online garage sale/estate sale... Paypal,Cashiers checks and Money orders accepted as payment. [shipping held til bank clearance] Payment required within 10 business days of auction close. Insurance optional unless otherwise indicated and always suggested because, no refunds, except on gross misrepresentations ($1-2.50 handling chg which includes delivery confirmation, is non-refundable), but especially not for postal losses. All sales items are USED items sold "AS IS".
