This is a fine antique dagger of a type used in Corsica Sardinia and parts of Sicily . It dates to about 1850 and has a 7 1/2 inch single edge blade uniformly tapered for thrusting with a deep fuller running along the edge and engraved foliage. The handle is wood with wire inlay and additional wire wrap to provide a better grip. These typically were used in the vendettas which plagued those islands and dramatically decreased the male population. Thus, these are specifically murder weapons made for stabbing or throat slashing in a surprise attack. Condition is as shown. YJA62.
