This is a wonderful pair of early first quality Meissen figures, both rare to find and painted with exquisite detailing....but in need of restoration. They each measure approximately 6 1/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide and wear the most intricate costumes. The boy with the black hat has the most obvious damage. His hand is broken off and that arm also looks restored and the rifle in his hand is broken off from the handle. That hand also has some repainting and a missing finger. The item on the ground is also broken off at the end. With restoration, this would be an amazing Meissen figure. His vest is all open lace work with gold gilt, the detail is one of the finest Meissen created. The other boy displays better as his damage is not as obvious on display as the other. He has restoration to the plume and rim of his hat and both hands show restoration with one having a few chips on the end of the fingers. Both items in his hands are broken and the item in between his legs as well. I believe this would be fairly easy to restore. His outfit is also very intricate however the open lace work on hsi vest shows some previous restoration and there is lack of gilt over the years. Each is marked with the Meissen blue crossed swords underglaze and also impressed numbers. Both are wonderful for the restorer and avid Meissen collector looking for the rare pieces! ~Please see my other fine antiques including Italian, German and English porcelain in my: other items ! I am always happy to combine shipping for you, thank you for your interest in my site!~
