Antique Meyrowitz Cast Iron Stand Telescope Drafting

This was made by E.B. Meyrowitz of New York, Patented on April 2 1898. Made of cast iron this stand is adjustable from a height of 27 inches to a height of 33 inches. The stand raises and lowers fine. The wood on top is not original to the stand. I have had no luck in finding what the use of the stand was. I did find E.B. Meyrowitz was into optics. I have found examples of both eye glasses and telescopes. So I'm thinking of some sort of Doctor stand or telescope base. I have sold several vintage drafting tables in the past that have this victorian look to them. Shipping will be done through Fedex Ground. Please email with questions.
