This is a real interesting set of 3 antique Keystone View Company stereoview cards of coal miner's scenes from Scranton, PA. The scenes are rich in suggesting the history and life of anthracite coal miners. For those who collect tin miner's lamp lanterns, these three cards actually show miners with sheets of flames shooting out of their little lamps. The description on the back states that these pictures were taken using the light of a flashlight, so that the mine actually appears well lit, but for the most part the mines back then were pitch black and that the little tin lamps from the miner's caps make just enough light to cast queer-looking shadows in all the corners. A detailed explanation of the coal mining process is described in these three Keystone stereoview cards numbered 75,76,77. Looking at these through my stereo viewer only emphasizes the dangers of what mining was and still is for the coal miner. The cards have some wear, but the pictures themselves are in great condition. No tears or rips. Email with any questions. Thanks for looking!
