Antique MINT PROHIBITION WHISKEY Medicine PRESCRIPTIONS Doctor Pharmacy Drug Bar Description Welcome & Thank You for Shopping In the USA! A fantastic original pair of government issued Prohibition Prescriptions for Medicinal Liquor! Please see photos! From the days of Al Capone, flappers and moonshine, this was the only legal way to to drink liquor in the US! The physician typically wrote this prescription for Whiskey or Spirits Frumenti...and occasionally wine or brandy! The patient took both the top, "Original" and bottom, "Duplicate" to the pharmacist to fill. The pharmacist kept the pink, duplicate Rx, as a permanent record... "Must be retained by the druggist, open to inspection by Federal Officers", and then sent the original prescription to the government, "before the TENTH day of the ensuing month". The prescriptions were issued by the Treasury Department and are printed on fancy, beautiful paper that was also used for U.S. currency. In the center is the old Treasury Seal with the Latin inscription, "Thesaur. Amer. Septent. Sigil.". When you hold the prescriptions to the light "PROHIBITION" is watermarked , as with the metal strips that are used in U.S. bills, the graphics are GREAT! Each prescription measures 8.5" x 4.5" and is in mint condition! These are FANTASTIC pieces of history and would be great to display
