Superb EstateAntique French EnamelMont Joye LegrasVase"MUMS" Polished PontilMarked #22Old Narrow Hairline I loved this Vase when I saw it at auction, replete with narrow hairline, clearly marked. (down toward the base). I still cannot figure out what could have happened.The hairline cannot be felt from either the interior nor exterior or the piece. Have no idea the cause. But the family deemed this vase worthy to keep for many, many years. And I believe it stunning as a lovely piece of wonderful French Art Glass from the Daum Galle Era. The enamel work is fabulous. Thickly applied and nicely textured. Bursting yellow spider mums, rich and buttery. Shows tremendous care and expertise. Works well against the amethyst glass and the ornate gilt of stems,leaves, and vines surrounding the piece. The pastel pink mums are also finely detailed with dabs of red. I love the lone standing mum on back. Think it adds to the grace and elegance of the piece as a whole. A nice touch of finery. The cylindrical shape is pleasing. Tall, thin, with vertical ribbing.
