A lovely antique Moorcroft Powder Blue tall lidded coffee or hot water pot. This range was made in the 1930's and was famously supplied for use in Liberty's in-house cafe. It stands 7.25" tall and measures 3.75" in diameter at the base. It has a generous oval handle and long spout, plus a conical lid with finial which fits securely by turning to lock it into place. Decorated with the classic glorious French blue ground with darker blue speckles, as ever with these pieces the exact shade of blue and amount of speckling tends to vary a little from vessel to lid. The jug is in very near mint condition with no cracks or chips and no faults. There are one or two tiny white specks and underglaze clay specks - another common feature of the Powder Blue range. An extremely close inspection reveals a couple of light surface scratches, not through the glaze. Inside is perfectly clean and ivory white and seems never to have been used. There are ventilation holes for steam to escape through the spout. The underside of the pot is marked 'MOORCROFT MADE IN ENGLAND 20 266(?)'. The lid is perfect on the outside apart from a couple of very tiny light surface scratches/nicks but there is a shallow, 12mm long chip to the underside of the rim (on the white, unglazed material but just about extending into the glazed side of the rim) hence the much lower
