Inside shows very good patina, normal for the period.PRE-AUCTION PRICE at ebay auctionSHIPPING: free shippingADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I purchased this morion helmet in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from a person that said that it came from a collector's auction. I assume this pre-1700's helmet was of Germanic origin. I have no way of knowing if the piece was used by the Spanish in the new world. I can say that the Spanish did purchase armor from throughout Europe and there were some German conquistradores in Latin America. It is made from two pieces joined together at the comb and front and back brim. The eight copper rosettes that originally affixed the liner on the inside and served as decorations around and just above the rim are still in place. The liner is no longer present. The black paint appears old but there are signs that it has been over-painted along the way.
