Victorian Mother of Pearl Purse This is a beautifully hand crafted item which is in reasonable condition for its age. The front has a small repair and shows some wear to the top left hand corner and there are two tiny blemishes on the left hand side. The back is in good condition showing very slight scuffing to the surface. Inside, as can be seen in the photograph, there are four compartments two of which are formed by the external panels of which one has become detached. The two inside compartments are in fair condition, one having a charming clasp with which it can be closed. The material appears to be of silk and is in a delicate condition. The purse is made around a metal frame, possibly brass, and is closed by a push clasp. The mother of pearl panels are attached to the frame by fine leather onto which the silk is attached. Though by no means in perfect condition this is a beautiful piece.
