This is a very unique jewelry piece that I had not seen before. It is not marked. I took it to a fine jeweler who tested it and said it was true gold of approximately 9K and European in origin. It is braided hair encased by a black enameled sleeve that has a gold leaf design on it. A piece of the tan thread that wraps around the hair is loose on one end which you can see in picture. It could be wound back around or cut. The ring is small. I do not have a sizer, but I would guess around a sz 6. I believe it is referred to as "mourning jewelry".
