You are bidding on an Antique Victorian Carved Rocking Chair. This is a RARE FIND becuase of its size, age and beauty and dates back to the Mid-late 19th Century Circa 1880 most likley earlier American made with New York Provenance and was made of the HIGHEST quality. This chair was also called a Lincoln Rocking Chair only this particular chair was among the HIGHEST quality in its class from its design features and the way it rocks and more like glides. It sits on a beautiful base which is nicely curved and has beautifully rounded columns and open spincle carved columns throughout the backrest and the sides all joined and doweled and dovetailed together and was made with quality and craftsmanship that is no longer found today. The entire chair has beautifully rounded edges with nice double upholstery and is finished on ALL of its sides so it can be placed anyw in a room. The chair has a nicely carved backrest with open frame work at both sides and beautifully contoured at the back which was for the more luxurious for the time period and for comfort. It has a label from a furniture company North Hickory Furniture who sold it in the 80s as a vintage chair so it is nice to have province such as this and in the 80s which is alsmot 40 years ago these were much more common and now they are hard to find and as time goes on it will only get harder to find. The upholstery was beautifully done but Please keep in mind this came from a private estate and does have wear consistent with its age and may need to be professionally cleaned or tailored at your discretion. It has a beautiful and exotic naturally figured wood grain pattern as you can see in the pictures. Because of its size it makes for a beautiful accent piece that can be used in a hallway or foyer, living room, study, or in a boudior, parlor, guest room and anyw else throughout your home that I PROMISE will be a topic of conversation and is an heirloom quality piece. This piece was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses ANYTHING made today and is all wood construction but Please understand that this is an antique so it has some minor imperfections on it but overall its in excellent shape.
