Antique Sumatran Tribal Sikin Panjang Sword

Very nicely crafted sword from Sumatran region of Indonesia.

The Blade is a typical straight form, with two spinal grooves to each side and a hatchet-tip, thick spine and a sharp edge, very powerful blade, the steel shows signs of rust pitting on both sides . Lovely hilt carved of horn in a traditional style with a beautifully worked steel ferrule area in form of a flower, which is also typical for these swords, all solid and intact. The horn does have a crack at the base (see photo). The blade is made without any date or marking

The original Scabbard is unusually covered in hand-hammered tin sheets glued to the wooden scabbard. It has a decidedly Islamic look to it with a striking floral design. The tin sheets are loose and will need to be reglued . One side of the scabbard has a green patina, while the other side has a silver patina.

Measurements: Blade (measured to edge of handle) is 21.1/4 inches.

Handle is 5.0 inches.

Scabbard is 20.7/8 inches

Total Length from base of Scabbard to end of handle is 38.1/8 inches.
