This listing is for a nice vintage index card catalog file made by the Library Bureau company around 1910-1930. This filing box has its original finish, which is in fairly good condition for being close to 100 years old. The quartersawn tiger oak wood grain looks good. This is an example with 15 drawers which is very hard to find. They just don't come up that often compared to the 2 and 4 drawer examples. The drawers were designed to hold the 3 by 5 inch index cards. About half the drawers still have the sliding card supports, the rest have gone missing over the years, but the drawers can still be used for storage. This still has all the original drawer pulls and the brass Library Bureau tag at the top front. The dimensions of this file are approx. 19" wide by 16" deep by 19" tall. I have shown several pictures which give a good idea of the condition. This is a very well made piece, with dovetailed case and dovetail construction drawers. It also has a paneled back, which is nice. The original finish has seen average use over its lifetime, but still looks good. It would probably clean up really well with a little attention. I would rate the finish now at a 7 out of 10. If the purchaser would prefer to have it refinished, I can have it done for an extra $100.00 over the final auction price. Personally, I like the character of the piece the way it is now. If you are looking for extra storage for your home office, here's your solution! Winning bidder please pay within 3 days of auction close. I will ship promptly.
