DESCRIPTION MLN 311 / Antique "Compactom" Brand Tiger Oak Art Deco Armoire / Entry Wardrobe / Compactum ~ We look for "compactum" style armoires wver we go. They're delicious: always gorgeous armoires housing incredibly well fitted interiors. We have only once in many, many years, actually come across the real deal. This is it. A "Compactom" armoire, the prototype and considered the best, of fitted armoires everyw This handsome piece has an exquisite exterior: tiger oak grain used in a sunburst design around a cloverleaf trim. It's architectural and very jazzy in appearance, all straight lines and curviness supported by stacked feet reminiscent of the Empire State Building. COLOR VARIATION on the front is solely due to camera flash and the late afternoon light. The original finish on this armoire is even and lovely. The fitted interior on this rare beauty contains all of the labeling and everything it originally arrived with, minus one peg for "braces and ties," shown 3d photo from bottom. It has "Compactom" branded spots for studs, for hats, a pull-out garment rack, shelves labeled for "pyjamas," handkerchiefs, everything one could possibly wish to put away. On the left door is the most charming packing list, also with the Compactom label. Using a pencil, one could check off everything needed to pack well for a journey: galoshes, smoking jacket, playing cards, hip flask. It is delightful and sweetly nostalgic to think of traveling in the 1940s, when this charmer was made. The right door has an adjustable mirror ~ adjusts for height and also swings in and out, though it locks in place when you're finished using it. Overall, this is one of the most remarkable armoires we've ever come across. The interior retains its original cheery gold paint, which makes everything inside look very neat and tidy. Grand and rare little armoire from England, perfect for use in an entryway w it will neatly house everything one could possibly drag in with at night. Goes without saying that it is perfection in the bedroom. No condition problems beyond the aforementioned missing peg. This one is a grand old treasure indeed. SIZE: 71.5 inches tall, 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep SHIPPING: $169.50 takes this to your nearest freight terminal for pickup, just as you'd pick up a package at one of the old catalog stores.
