Antique Oak Napanee Hoosier Style Cabinet DESCRIPTION This is a beautiful hoosier cabinet by Napanee of Indiana. These "kitchenets" were especially popular in the early 1900's. They were originally made for baking preparations in the kitchen. Today, people use them as cabinets, buffets or for coffee & tea. I've even seen one used as a small bar. They're very versatile. This hoosier is made of a rich, honey-colored oak that has a wonderful, aged patina. It is possible that it was refinished but judging by the patina, it was done long ago. It has the original hardware and castors, the original built-in flour bin, enamel table-top, a roll-top tambour door, a pull-out wire shelf, metal bread drawer, pull-out dough board (or cutting board), and a drawer with compartments for utencils. The original manufacturer tag is on the front and reads, "Napanee Dutch Kitchenet, Napanee, Indiana" (see photo). The top piece attaches to the bottom with its original metal brackets. This hoosier cabinet measures 40" wide and 71" high. With the enamel table-top, it is 28" deep. CONDITION This piece is in near perfect condition. All the doors and drawers open and close easily, including the roll-top tambour door. T is no missing hardware. The oak is in beautiful condition with no scratches, gouges, burns or marks of any kind. T are very slight signs of wear near the castors but nothing noticeable. The enamel is clean and in wonderful condition except for 3 dings on the front edge (see photos). The dings are small and don't detract in any way from the overall beauty of the cabinet. My mother purchased this piece from an antique dealer who specialized in hoosiers and she lovingly cared for it in her home for many years. NOTE This item is for local pick-up only. It is currently in a climate-controlled storage unit in Covina, California, 91723. If you'd like to see this item before bidding or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
