I am offering this vintage/antique oak box which holds a statue of St. Rita, patron Saint of the desparate... seemingly forgotton or impossible causes. St. Rita entered the convent later in life, after suffering in an abusive marriage. She suffered from a chronic head wound, which appeared to have been caused by a crown of thorns. In trying to find out more about her, I found her story to be quite fascinating! Condition of the statue and glass with reverse painting is EXCELLENT. All colors are vibrant and true. Small glass candle holder at front, seen in photos. Flowers (roses, significant in her life story) at her feet have faded over time. Oak box/finish itself is also EXCELLENT. All original backing , as well. Frame, original oak finish, is trimmed with original gold wash over gesso(?) I am not expert but I believe this is what it is called. This trim is pristine. Box is 14" wide x 23" tall and is about 4" deep. Meant to be installed between studs in a home. Overall appearance is wonderful. Is this an object that would have significant meaning in your home? Please take the time to read my feedback and email with questions early on . I will accept payment from US buyers by money order or cashier's check ONLY. NO personal check, please. I normally choose least expensive shipping as seen at USPS website, but will quote speedier shipping
