RARE".........Hard to Find........Antique Odell Type Writer No.3Chicago, Ill. Circa 1899-1905Found at Estate Sale of Older coupleNo. 3 Odell is the first to have the enlarged semicircular nameplate section on the printing arm of the machine. Am selling this for my grown son and he recently contacted an Antique buyer & collector and was told this model sells for between $500 to $1,000 depending on condition of course.Have low start price of: $300 with NO RESERVE!Often I found out the ink roller is missing, this one has the ink roller, although it is separate from the machine and has two extra springs as can be seen in one of the photos. This is often called an index typewriter. The user slides the bar to the appropriate point, and presses down. The type brushes past an ink roller before contacting the paper, which is fed to the narrow cylindrical platen..The ink roller sat on a spring that was attached to the fork that stands up from the base. There is also an extra screw in the photo as well.It is a heavy little machine. If someone lives close by they could pick it up and save on postage if they wish.Has a wonderful Art Deco design, am told these were nickel-plated.Has brass plaque on read more
