This is an antique pair of carved, gilt ogee shelves or corbels. These shelves/corbels were found at the estate of a world traveler. They are very heavy, likely 5-7lbs each. The primary wood appears to be black walnut with a secondary wood of oak. This pair shows some minor chipping showing a base gesso covered by a reddish color and then gold coloration. These have some good age to them, and do have some old evidence of worms (not active). They measure 13" long by 5 1/2" high. by 6 3/4" deep. The actual tops are 11 1/2" long by 6" deep. These are very substantial shelves/corbels which are classic in design, and could accent any period decor right up to contemporary. Leave as they are, or refinish to sleek lines. Either way, these are a find!
