Up for bid is a Antique Oil Lamp Boat Bow Combination (Red & Green). This beautiful old lamp was aquired at an estate sale in the Finger Lakes Region. This lamp is in good shape with some repairs that would need to be done to place it back in top condition. The outer shell of this lamp is made of a brass, with two curved lens that are red and green. Both lens are the originals and have not been replaced. The inner part of this lamp has a soot that has accumulated from years of burning an oil type substance to generate the light for the lamp. As seen in the photos t is no bottom piece to this lamp, some people that i have been in contact with have informed me that it may have been posssible that the owners carried a regular type lamp and just inserted it into the base of this out shell piece. The back part of this lamp has a flat type open hanger that may have been used to hook onto a rod at the bow of the boat. The top chimney piece that the handle hooks to does have cracking damage, as the brass for that area is very thin. That is the only major damage to this lamp, and can be fixed by a crafty brass smith. The overall length of this piece is about 8in (with the handle down) 11in (with it up), and the diameter is about 5in (across the back) These antique nautical pieces are getting very rare, no matter what condition they are in, read more
