Thisis a charming painting of two rabbits on a path in the forest. The moon isvisible through the trees. The painting is on board and is 7 by 9 inches. It is in a period frame that is 15 ¼ by 17 ½ inches. The painting is unsigned. The board has a sticker on the back from Geo Rowney and Co. of London. There is some writing in pencil on the back but we have not been able to tell what it says but it may be a clue to the artist. This dates to the 19 th century, we believe circa 1870. Both the painting and frame are in very good condition. However, the frame has been repainted with gold paint as opposed to gilding. The only blemish to the painting is a spot on the right side about halfway up. The frame is quite heavy weighing over 6 lbs.
