THIS ITEM IS BEING RELISTED DUE TO A NON PAYING BIDDER!!! PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PAY!!! You are bidding on an original oil painting of a ballerina signed by the artist, which from what I can make out is Wiatt J. I bought this painting from a man, Michael Buccola, who was selling the contents of his deceased father's estate. He was 55 years old, so I am assuming the father was at least in his 70's. Supposedly the father (Annthony) was a collector of art and antiques. On the back of the canvas there is writing in marker directly on the wood which says "5/89 TO MY SISTER ANNETTE" - then is signed Annthony A. Buccola. It looks like Annthony gifted this painting to his sister in 1989, making the painting at least 20 years old, but I believe it is older than that because it is very dry and delicate. If you were to push on the canvas lightly with your finger you could easily tear the painting. The canvas from the back is also very yellowed. On the back of the stretcher, there is a makers mark incised into the frame which is an Artist's Palette with the words ANCO BILT. Also incised into the frame is the size of the canvas 16''x20''. There is a spacer between the frame and the painting making the viewable dimensions of the painting 15.5'' x 19.5''. Overall the painting seems in great condition for its age. I would rate read more
