NO RESERVE, HIGH BIDDER WILL BE THE OWNER! (1) See photos below for this dated antique railroad strong box : . Nameplate: "M'F'D BY THE VANDERMAN MANUFACTURING CO. WILLIMANTIC CONN. PAT. JULY 13 1897." . All sides, top and bottom are iron/steel framed. . The external hardwood ribs are riveted through to the inside of the iron. . The corners have cast iron and steel reinforcements that are also riveted. . Note the massive cast iron on the upper front corners with holes for large locks(?). . The outside rust (patina) has removed most of the original paint. The inside black paint is in fair condition. . Overall, it is 26 inches long, 14 inches wide and 15 inches high. . The inside is 24 inches long, 12 inches wide and 13 inches deep. . The tray is 24 inches long, 6-1/2 inches wide and 5 inches high. Made of plywood, it is not an original tray. . This guy weighs 56 pounds ! . The steel loop on the hasp is missing a small piece. . Probably used for transporting gold bullion or gold coins instead of currency (?). . An old used antique, it is being auctioned "as-is" and with NO RESERVE.
