Early, possibly Victorian tourist souvenir: DICKENS' LONDON A RECONSTRUCTION OF DICKENS' LONDON WITH ITS HISTORIC BUILDINGS Cut them out and erect them on the enclosed map of his time and you will be enchanted by the charm of that great epoch. Published by The Old Curiosity Shop Portsmouth Street, Kingsway Made in England This is an early and rather fascinating late 19th or early 20th Century souvenir depicting London during the time of Dickens' novels. I cannot find a publication date, so I don't know the exact age of this item. It consists of: Map Paper cut-outs of buildings, numbered 1-36 2 pages with corresponding numbered descriptions of the buildings. "No. 1 of the series HISTORY IN CARDBOARD " ( patent Applied for )". "Lithography by Henderson & Spalding Ltd. , London, SW1."Outer envelope is blind stamped " Giant Manilla, a John Dickinson Product " beneath back flap. Henderson and Spalding was a well known London lithographic printing company, in business from the 19th century onward. They published a book on the subject in 1925, " Some Practical Considerations About Good Printing". They were very active in the 1920's through the 1940's, so this may have been published during this period.
