This antique ivory chess set is complete and believed to be from the late 1800's, possibly very early 1900's. These amazing hand-carved pieces are all slightly different and the set is in excellent condition. It is important to note that both queens were holding an arrow and both of the delicate arrows have broken off, but we still have them and will, of course, include them. The detail is so amazing in these pieces. The pieces pictures that are riding horses are actually holding arrows that can slide up and down in their hands. Other than a couple tiny nicks on a couple of the light brown pawns, I could find no other damage to any of the pieces. The kings measure 4 3/4 inches tall, the base has about a 1 inch diameter. I have included close-up pictures of several of the pieces, not all of them, so e-mail me if you need more close-ups or have any questions. The wooden chess box was hand-made and has some scratches in the finish. Opened board measures 17 inches x 16 inches. Playing board doubles as a carrying case for the delicate pieces. Similar sets are listed on eBay for thousands of dollars. I am selling antique items from the estate of an elderly multi-millionaire.
