PERFECT MINT CONDITION COLORFUL ANTIQUE CAUCASIAN KAZAK LONG CARPET, Southern TransCaucasus mountains, Circa: 1900. The exact size is: 4'-8" x 8'-8" (142 x 264 cm). A very colorful and decorative antique collector's Kazak furnishing carpet in superb original MINT condition. Not one hair out of place on this one! Thick, full, silky, lusterous pile on wool warps and wefts. Woven with very rich and saturated natural vegetal dyes. It has just professionally cleaned to museum standards. It is now collection or floor ready. This antique Caucasian carpet is very heavy to the handle. Lies flat and straight on the floor. This beautiful furninhing carpet has a bold, powerful, eye-catching field design of four large latch-hook diamond medallions on an open rich, saturated, madder red field hosting smaller latch-hook designs, diamond lozenges, jewelry ornaments, and other geometric filler motifs. This composition is nicely framed by several border arrangements. Absolutely NO rips, holes, tears, repairs, reweaves, re-knotting, odors, stains, stiffness, dryness, moth damage areas, color run or bleeding. Possessess its original side cord overcastings. The top end finish has been sewn back safe and secure to prevent loss of knots from future use on the floor. The bottom end has its original warp ending finish loops (see close up photo of weave structure from the back). This lovely weaving comes in as good of original condition as you can find. NOTES: It has been suggested that the use of crosses in the centers of the latch-hook medallions and in the ornamental jewelry devices in addition to the high quality silk-like wool and spacious open rich madder red field and other saturated natural dyes, that these factors may indicate a Christian Armenian origin for this lovely weaving rather than an Islamic weaver. Either way, regardles of its origin, this is one beautifully decorative collector carpet in absolutely perfect original condition. This quality seldom shows up in the western rug markets of Europe and America w weavings were used as utilitarian floor coverings. This particular antique Kazak carpet is fresh to eBay auction from source acquisition in the Southern TransCaucasus Mountain village areas by one of my suppliers.
