I get most of my items at estate auctions. I sell them in an "as found" condition. I do no repairs, alterations, and very little cleaning (I think it is almost a sin to do much scrubbing on vintage and antique items). I do this in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. This frame and print are in excellent condition. The print is dated 1929. I would think this style of frame would date back even further, probably late 1800's. But t is no real evidence to indicate the print and frame are not original to each other. The frame has been repainted and the oak probably refinished, and in order to do that, I'm sure the glass, print and backing were removed. But, it appears, that whoever did the job, knew what they were doing because the glass is still original, old and wavy, and the wood back is most certainly original. I found a few very small spots of missing gesso that had been painted over. These spots are not obvious at all. T are a couple of newer tiny spots of gesso missing at this time. The gesso on this type of frame is very thin and fragile and won't tolerate much bumping around, so I would say the gesso on this frame is excellent. The colors in the print are very vibrant and unfaded and without close inspection the print appears to be an original painting. The frame is about 22 1/4" by 26
