For your collecting and bidding consideration we offer a J.B. Owens Signed Utopian Nasturtium Bulbous Long Neck 8&1/2" Art Pottery Vase, Circa 1896-1907. The J.B. Owens Pottery was founded in 1885 by J.B. Owens in Roseville, Ohio and he moved to Zanesville, Ohio in 1891 and built a new pottery. His first line of art pottery was called "Utopian" and he made that from 1896-1907. After 1907, he manufactured tiles only and renamed the company as the J.B. Owens Floor & Wall Tile Company. Owens went out of business around 1929. The vase offered here is from that Utopian line and measures 8&1/2" Tall x 4&3/4" Bulbous Diameter with a 5&1/2" Long Neck and a 2&3/8" Diameter Top Opening. It is glazed in a Rich Chocolate Brown, a Glorious Green and an Electric Orange with Hand Painted Orange and Yellow Nasturtium Flowers on the front! It rests on a 2&1/4" Diameter unglazed base that is signed: UTOPIAN AND J.B. OWENS. This vase is in Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. It is crazed which can be seen under bright light and is commiserate with age and use. If you collect antique art pottery and don't have a piece signed by the famous J.B.
